PART   XI

INDIRECT AND DIRECT GAINING KNOWLEDGE IN MUSIC

The Musician and His Surroundings

In his work and in his success, the musician thrives on the profundity of contact to his surroundings – on the quality of his relationship with the listener.
The musical logic particularly focusses on this aspect of practical gaining knowledge.

Gaining Knowledge in Music Together

On the basis of logical deduction, classical music achieves perfect unity, perfect harmony between individual and surroundings.

Harmony between Individual and Surroundings

On the level of the harmony, classical music sets the creative seed-impulses of the individual listener as well as that of the community of listeners into a natural coordinated function, vibrating in accordance with the laws of nature.

Group Dynamics

Thus, the inner logic of classical music represents the golden magical key for a fulfilling, truthful relationship between the musical creator, the musician, and the listener, for it practises everyone in realizing unity.

Exercises in Realizing Unity in Music

The true, supreme social achievement of music lies in realizing harmony between man.
This, then, is a token of the divine spark in music.

The Supreme Achievement in Music

“The great secret of all creative geniuses is that they possess the power to adopt the beauty, the affluence, the greatness, and the dignity of the omnipotence to make it part of their soul, and that they share this wealth with others. The conscious, purposeful conquest of one’s own inner forces is the highest secret.”
